A two day UGC sponsored State Level Seminar on "National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme" was organized by Dept. of Economics on 28th March 2007. Sri G.A. Chandrashekarappa, S.G.L. in Economics invited guests and delegates. Sri S. B. Thippanayaka, Former Secretary, J.T.N.S. Jagalur inaugurated the occasion. In inaugural address emphasized on that implementing authority of this programme has to select real poor people to give benefit and also create assets which gives benefits to poor community for longer period. Dr. K.C. Basavarajappa, H.O.D. of Economics Manasa Gangothri, Mysore University, Mysore in his key note address explained about the objectives of the programme and he highlighted the misutilisation of grants and corruption in payment of wages and submitting accounts. Dr. J. Krishna, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Economics, Hampi University Hampi, Sri P.H. Krishnamurthy, S.G.L. in Economics, S.J.M. College, Chitradurga were gusts of honor. G.B. Prakash, Principal, H.C.B.M. SC/ST First Grade College, Jagalur in his presidential address said that implementing authority should monitor the programme and educate the rural people about this programme.
