The department of commerce was started in 1985-86 with least strength of the 12 students. But the number of students has been grown over the years and now it has reached 170. The Department offers curriculum prescribed by the University.

The Department teaches subjects for the B.com students along with curricular activities like internal assessment, tests, seminars, assignments, short term projects, soft skills, Guest lectures. Examination have been conducted in accordance with rules and regulations of the Davanagere University to which the college is affiliated. The Department also takes up students’ research projects every year. 

The staff of the department have been taken personal care in improving the knowledge and intellectual capacity of the students, encourage the students to participate actively in the class room , group discussions, seminars and try to improve their practical knowledge by conducting skill development activity  such as visit to Industries, Banks, etc.

The staff of the department guides about income tax related matters to the our college staff and also to the public.
