HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMICS

The department of Economics was started with the establishment of the college in 1982.
Curricular activities like tests, assignment s and exams have been conducted in accordance with rules & regulations of the Davangere University to which the college is affiliated. Economics plays a vital role in making modern civilization function and its concerned with the optimal distribution of resources in a society.

The study of economics provides a sound theoretical basis in economic theories.  The first four semesters are devoted to give a firm background in micro economics, macro economics, mathematical economics and Indian economics.  In the fifth and sixth semesters the students take two compulsory papers namely economic growth and developments, public economics in the fifth semesters and international economics, managerial economics in the sixth semester.  They have elective papers in the final year encompassing two option each semester. The elective papers offered by the department are money banking and finance or research methodology in the fifth semester.  Karnataka economy or rural developments in the sixth semester.
