The department of Political Science was started with the establishment of the college in 1982.
Curricular activities like tests, assignment s and exams have been conducted in accordance with rules & regulations of the Davanagere University to which the college is affiliated. The study of Political Science will help students to understand the Intricacies of political life in the contemporary society. It will help the individuals to be efficient and effective administrators at different levels in a federal setup. Above all, a study of political trends will help people to be the watchdog of democratically established institutions. It will help students to prepare for competitive examinations.
The department teaches Indian Constitution as a compulsory subject for BA and B.Com students.
Human Rights--
-- Human rights are commonly understood as being those rights which are inherent to the human being. The concept of human rights acknowledges that every single human being is entitled to enjoy his or her human rights without distinction as to race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status. To make them aware their rights, the department has been conducting various guest lectures on this issue and also conducted UGC sponsored certificate Human Rights foundation course during the academic year 2010-11 and 2011-12.
